The forum signed a cooperation protocol with the Institute of National Planning (INP) and DCarbon-Egypt to implement the initiative, which specifically targets women in middle and senior positions at government institutions.

The training course is scheduled to be held on 6 and 7 December at the headquarters of the INP in Cairo.

The goal of the initiative is to provide women with the tools to integrate environmental and climate standards in all economic activities to work towards a green economy.

Top 50 Women founder Dina Abdel-Fattah said that the aims of the initiative are in line with the goals and recommendations of the recent 27th UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) with regards to accelerating towards a green economy.

Abdel-Fattah said that women are disproportionally affected by climate change and that the training launched by the Top 50 seeks to equip women to combat the dangers of climate change.

INP president Ashraf El-Araby stressed that women’s role in implementing change in climate action is strategic, and is crucial for achieving Egypt’s 2030 Sustainable Development Plan, especially since climate change heavily impacts women’s social and economic stability.

In the same spirit, DCarbon-Egypt CEO Ehab Shalaby said that the program will also allow women to shift towards more sustainable business models.

The first training program will educate women on how to formulate sustainability reports in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

The TOP 50 Women Forum was set up by 50 Egyptian women who were recognised as the most influential women in the country's economy during the 'Egypt for the Best Summit' that was held in 2016.
